THE FRENCH HILL SESSIONS …improvised across two evenings in the Catalan Hills. Broken, dusty unused and unloved guitars, a 20 dollar microphone and a lampstand rhythm machine. These recordings use off-the-cuff, random guitar tunings as well as household objects such as glass bowls – slide guitar on Jet Lag Honey was played with a wrought iron poker across a smashed guitar. Synthesizers added later.
